In our
congregation young people are nurtured to grow spiritually through Sunday School classes and All Ages worship services. Weekly Sunday School classes are rooted in our faith's
core principles and lessons are drawn from diverse sources of wisdom. See our Sunday School page for descriptions of this year's classes. These classes:
Foster a sense of community enabling our children to be aware that they are honored respected participants in our congregation. - Explore the nature of religion, its principles, traditions, and personal relevance in order to understand the value and identity of Unitarian Universalism.
- Encourage and develop critical thinking in our children by offering them the opportunity to learn to make responsible choices on spiritual and ethical issues.
- Develop a sense of social responsibility and commitment to social action by reinforcing our connection with other people and our planet.
- Build knowledge of the world’s varied religions in order to understand and appreciate the beliefs of others.
On Sunday Mornings
On
most Sundays, young people join the the adults in the sanctuary at
10:30 for the first 15 minutes of the worship service. Children are then excused to their classes. Sunday School classes last until 11:45. Families and friends are invited to join the last five minutes of classes when the group shares that day's lesson with guests.
Crib Room Care for infants and toddlers is available from 10:25 to 11:45 a.m.
All Ages worship services are a time for the whole congregation, children and adults, to worship together. These services are a special opportunity for families to share worship with their loved ones and friends in the congregation.
Registration
All children participating in our programs - infants through high school level - must be registered. You can download this form by clicking the link to the right. Please return this form to the Religious Education office.
As in any educational program, parental participation is key to success. Once children are registered, it is our hope that parents or guardians will become active pledging members of our congregation. The example of parents' participation in our congregation is the most effective way to encourage a child's spiritual development.
Visitors are welcome to have their children attend our Religious Education classes. We ask only that you notify the Religious Education office. After four weeks of attendance, visitors are are requested to formally register their children.
