Food Action Task Force/Center for Food Action

|
Central Unitarian Church supports local food pantries by collecting and contributing food on a monthly basis for the nonprofit Center for Food Action (click on CFA's link in the right column for more information). CFA provides food packages and homeless prevention services to our neighbors in need: the working poor, senior citizens and disabled individuals on fixed incomes, and the unemployed experiencing temporary financial hardship.
We collect nonperishable food items (must not be outdated) on the first Sunday of each month. Supermarket gift certificates which are used to purchase fresh produce, eggs, and dairy products are also welcome. We’d like to extend a very special thank you to everyone who supported our annual Thanksgiving collection for the Center for Food Action located in Englewood. Your donations of food and/or gift cards enabled us to distribute special food packages (including turkeys) directly to 636 families. In addition, we provided the food packages for 1528 families served by other social service agencies. To see a video which shows the preparations that took place prior to the distribution, please go to the Center for Food Action link in the right column and click on CFA Thanksgiving Video.
